Volunteer Interview: Yasmin

Law graduate Yasmin was already volunteering at a local church where Citizens Advice Barnet holds outreach sessions. She is now training to become a generalist adviser.

What brought you to volunteer with us?

I studied law at university and previously worked as a paralegal. I currently volunteer with a local church. Through volunteering at the church, I learnt more about Citizens Advice Barnet which led me to volunteer here.

What is your role at Citizens Advice Barnet?

I am currently training to become a generalist adviser.

Why do you volunteer at Citizens Advice Barnet?

Because the service Citizens Advice provide plugs the gaps that local authorities and the government can’t provide. You can really see the difference that Citizens Advice are making to people’s lives. The environment at the office and the people mean you can ask anyone for help, and they will be happy to do so.

What would you say to someone thinking of volunteering at Citizens Advice Barnet?

Go for it – don’t overthink it.
